J A Hamson of 3 St James Street St Peter Port operated in the early 20th century, maybe about 1910 - it is believed he took over from H J Kaines. ( The author has an image dated 1914)

As you see from the photograph of his premises taken from a selected enlargement of a Bramley photograph, he was fully operational in the lead up to the First world War.
J A Hamson operated from 3 St James Street from the early 1910's ( or slightly before) and through the First World War years and after. Exact dates have not been verified.

Prior to his occupation of this address, Henry Johnson Kaines, (trading under the name 'HJ Kaines', also a photographer was there from about 1900.

The premises of 3. St James Street hosted many photographers over the years, with the first one being Arsene Garnier who moved from 18 Berthelot street (started 1848) in 1852 and was at the 3. St James street address until at least 1879.
