Laying The Foundation Stone of Well's  Memorial Chapel

On the 27th December 1895 at 2pm the ceremony of laying the foundation stone of the Well's Memorial Chapel at the Town Hospital took place (now the current Police Station).

Mrs Mary Alegonda Wells bequeathed £500 to the Poor Law Board of St Peter Port as attribute of gratefulness for the care of her brother while a patient at the Town Hospital. An extra £500 was voted by the ratepayers as the total was not sufficient to build a new chapel.


Amongst the people at the gathering was Mrs Neve aged 104 and an image believed to be showing her is shown here also.
