These images were taken in the environs of St Peter Port harbour in the 1800's. The photographers names are listed when known.

This early photograph shows Castle Cornet in all its glory before any harbour works connected it to the island.

The only other image the author has seen to date of an isolated Castle Cornet is attributed to Charles Hugo1855/6; Victor Hugo's son, also showing the building of the Castle Emplacement - The photograph is in the collection of Paris Musées.

The new harbour works started with a foundation being laid on 24th August 1853.
