Merlin in St Peter Port Pool 1928
Merlin in St Peter Port Pool 1928

This picture is of Colonel Elliot's fine yacht the Merlin.

In 1923 Colonel Elliot who was managing director of Bucktrout & Co ((wine & tobacco merchants) commissioned Frederick Hobbs to go and collect the newly built merlin from Swanage and return her to Guernsey.

The appearance of this boat must have been considered quite newsworthy as a report describing her arrival in the harbour was printed in the Guernsey Weekly Press on the 26th May 1928.
