Her late grandfather was Major J.H. Falla who lived in the Vale. He was a member of the RGLI and rose to the rank of Major.

He is the man in uniform on the left of Queen Mary as you look at the picture (or on her right in true life). Her grandad was one of the 500 men who joined the 6th Irish regiment in 1915 - needless to say he did survive, married and fathered Rosie's Dad.
