Molly 2
Molly 2

This photograph shows Molly 2 in the early 1960's before restoration. She is now the Railways main shunting locomotive.

Molly 2 was built in 1958 to work on the Alderney Breakwater. She was manufactured by Ruston Hornsby, later known as Ruston in Lincoln England. The company was established in 1840.

She arrived in Alderney in kit form, as no cranes on the island were capable of lifting her!

Molly has an 88BHP 4 cylinder Ruston Diesel Engine and an air braking mechanism.

She has recently been returned to working order, and is now the Railways principle shunting locomotive.

Location: Alderney
